City of Piraeus

Piraeus is a port city in Athens urban area, in the Attica region of Greece. The city of Piraeus located in the Athens Riviera, along the east cost of the Saronic Gulf. It is an important commercial center of merchant marine, transportation and industry. The port of Piraeus is the chief port in Greece and one of the leading ports in the Mediterranean. Piraeus hosts over 20 million passengers yearly and connects the mainland of Greece with Dodecanese, Cyclades, Crete and other Greek islands. Besides the domestic destinations the port of Piraeus is also used by several international ferry and cruise companies.

The most attractive spots all over the bustling city are the port of Zea, also known as Pasalimani and the Mikrolimano. Both are picturesque harbors and small venues, ideal for scrolling around, exploring the Greek culture and restaurants and enjoy the majestic view of the Saronic Gulf. Moreover, one of the top things to do in Piraeus, especially if you are lover of art and history, you can visit the Archaeological or Hellenic Maritime Museum and the municipal Gallery and Theatre of Piraeus. The city is relatively small and can be covered on foot.
