SCHINOUSA, GREECE

The Island of Schinousa

Schinoussa is a Cycladic island in the Aegean Sea and the capital of the island. The island has been inhabited since ancient times. According to tradition, its name owes it to the shrubby shrub plant that thrives throughout the island. But there is another version according to which the island was named after the Venetian lord Schinoza.

Schinoussa is located approximately in the center of the Small Eastern Cyclades. We find it south of Naxos and northeast of Heraklion. It is a small island, offered for quiet holidays. It belongs to the province of Naxos and has regular transport. Mersini is considered one of the best shelters for small boats in the entire Aegean. The highest peak of the island is Mylos with an altitude of 133 meters.
